The book "Ukraine: A War Crime" with works by 93 photojournalists from 29 countries will be presented on March 14 at the Sofia City Art Gallery, organizers said.

The book, compiled by Svetlana Bachevanova, tells about the reality beyond the news - personal stories of survivors of the war in Ukraine, as well as testimonies of atrocities committed. The book also tells about different aspects of the war, the destruction, civilian casualties and crimes committed on Ukrainian soil.

"Ukraine: A War Crime" is a bilingual book - in Bulgarian and English. It contains 366 colour and black and white photographs and 38 short journalistic essays.

The publication is a joint project of Janet 45 and PhotoVision, an association and publishing house based in Montpellier, France, which deals with documentary photography with a focus on human rights and social and environmental justice.

The first edition of the book, which was published in July 2023 in English and Ukrainian, was named the best book at the International Photography Awards 2023 and was awarded with a silver medal from the Anthem Awards in the Human and Civil Rights category.

All proceeds from the sale of the book are to be transferred to the account of the Manol Peikov and Friends Foundation and will be used for charitable causes related to Ukraine, the organizers said.
