Violinist Gautier Capucon is coming to Sofia to take part in the Bulgarian premiere performance of the Cello Concerto by legendary Hollywood composer Danny Elfman.
Elfman has also confirmed his participation in a concert at Bulgaria Hall on October 5, the Sofia Philharmonic said.
The conductor of the concert will be Nayden Todorov. The programme includes Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky/Ravel.
Elfman’s Cello Concerto was written specially for the French cello player, and the Sofia Philharmonic is co-producer of the work.
Gautier Capucon has his own foundation to support young and talented musicians at the beginning of their careers.
On October 4, Capucon will hold a masterclass for Bulgarian cello students as part of the project titled Lessons of the Great: Masterclasses of the Sofia Philharmonic Soloists. The project started on April 5 with a masterclass by world-renowned violinist Julian Rachlin.
