Golden Gadulka Music Festival to Gather 600 Performers from Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania

Some 600 performers from Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania will participate in the 53rd edition of the Golden Gadulka folklore music festival (gadulka is a traditional Bulgarian bowed string instrument). The event will take place on June 4 in the Youth Park in Ruse, Ruse Deputy Mayor Encho Enchev said on Tuesday.

Solo performers, as well as singing, dancing and instrumental ensembles from eight regions in Bulgaria - Ruse, Sofia, Razgrad, Targovishte, Silistra, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo, will participate in the festival. 

A professional jury will select the winner of the Golden Gadulka prize, as well as winners in sever other categories. The performances will be judged by Prof. Nikolay Nenov – Director of the Ruse History Museum, choreographer Bogdan Donev, and ethnomusicologists Prof. Goritsa Naydenova and Lyudmila Grigorova.

Guests will be performers from Taraclia District, the centre of Bulgarians in Moldova, and Izvoarele, Romania.

The Golden Gadulka festival is organized by Ruse Municipality.
