The popular science film produced by Bulgarian National Television (BNT), The King and the Sun. A Journey through the History of Ancient Egypt, is the winner in the TV programme category of the International Tourism Film Festival in Antalya (Turkiye), BNT said on Friday.

The film competed with more than 300 productions from 39 countries.

The project, created on BNT Director General Emil Koshlukov's idea, reveals the ancient Egyptians' concepts of the world and the cosmos. Assoc. Prof. Teodor Lekov, author, scriptwriter and narrator of the film, is an Egyptologist, a lecturer at the Bulgarian Institute of Egyptology at New Bulgarian University and Director of the Bulgarian Archaeological Mission in Egypt.

"I am extremely happy that the message of the film has reached the jury and the audience at the festival. The aim of our professional tight-knit team was to convey the spirit of the time, building a kind of bridge to the present," director Stanislav "Stenly" Terziev said and thanked the international jury.

Denica Takeva, President of the Bulgarian Egyptological Society, is editor, consultant and coordinator of the project. The footage was shot by Kristian Spasov and Vladislav Petrov, and Ara Hugasyan is the film's editor.
