The National Academy of Art will present the concept, process and results of its project "Shared Typefaces", focused on the development and free distribution of original typefaces, on January 8 at 6:00 pm at Academia Gallery, the National Academy of Art said on Monday.

The project was implemented by Svetlin Balezdrov in cooperation with Kristina Borisova, both lecturers at the Academy, whose creative and professional work is aimed at achieving and upholding high artistic and aesthetic standards in type design.

The National Academy of Art, regarded as the founder of Bulgaria’s typographic school, said its mission to preserve and advance high standards in typography is pursued not only through education but also through the creation and public presentation of artistic works by its faculty.

Borisova is the founder and head of the Master’s programme in Calligraphy and a lecturer at the Department of Poster and Visual Communication, while Balezdrov teaches at the Department of Advertising Design and is a co-founder of the digital platform for Bulgarian typography npoekmu.me.

The LIK typeface of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), presented on February 16, 2025, was developed by the National Academy of Art under Georgi Yankov, led by Balezdrov, with contributions from Borisova, Jacklina Jekova and Nikolay Petrusenko.

The LIK typeface is registered with the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and is provided free of charge by BTA to public institutions to promote a unified visual identity. It has already been adopted by several institutions, including the National Institute of Justice, the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the University of National and World Economy, and the State Cultural Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
