Leading Bulgarian artists are gathering for a Christmas charity exhibition to support young talent. The Art in Aid of Art exhibition will be officially opened on December 18 at the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA) building and at the Terasa Gallery of the National Academy of Art (NAA), the Academy said.
Anyone wishing to be part of the cause can visit the NAA's new academic building at 1 Shipka Street from December 15 to 20, as well as the UBA exhibition at 6 Shipka Street from December 15 to 19.
The exhibition is part of the National Platform Art in Aid of Art, a project of the NGO Imeon-Balkans Foundation, which has been supporting Bulgarian art for more than 20 years. The platform brings together some of the most significant contemporary authors in the field of visual arts in Bulgaria, who donate their paintings to support the future generation of artists. Most of them are teachers at higher and secondary art schools in Bulgaria. This exhibition includes works by Ivaylo Mirchev, Kiril Bozhkov, Zdravka Vasileva, Svetozar Benchev, Pencho Dobrev, and more.
The national platform Art in Aid of Art was founded in 2023, based on an idea by Yulian Stankulov, Chief Assistant Professor in Painting at the NAA, and is implemented in partnership with the NAA, St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, and the UBA. Exhibitions from the Platform have been displayed in art galleries across the country. To date, the Platform has supported 14 scholarship recipients.
The Christmas charity exhibition Art in Aid of Art is held under the auspices of Prof. Georgi Iankov, rector of the NAA. It continues the long-standing tradition of supporting young generations of artists, one of whom was the great Bulgarian painter Vladimir Dimitrov – The Master.
