site.bta13th Mayor of the Year Annual Awards to Be Presented in Sofia

Vice President Iliana Iotova will take part in the award ceremony of the national “Mayor of the Year” awards ceremony, the President's press secretariat reported here on Tuesday. 

An award will also be presented by Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Ivanov, his Ministry said.

The “Mayor of the Year” awards are organized for the 13th consecutive year by Kmeta.bg, and the winners are chosen through online voting.

Voting for the competition began at midnight on September 25 and closed at 11:59 p.m. on October 5, according to the Kmeta.bg platform.

This year, the competition will honor mayors in the categories: “Mayor of the Year,” “Mayor of the Citizens,” “Urban Environment,” “Smart City,” “Tourism and Culture,” “Sports and Youth Policies,” and “Investment and Growth.”

Two municipalities are not participating this year – Varna, due to charges brought against its mayor, and Elin Pelin, at their own request.
