Access to the Elenite holiday village near Burgas will be restricted in the coming days after torrential rain on October 3 severely damaged infrastructure in the area and led to high soil saturation, the Regional Administration said, warning that more rainfall is expected. The flooding claimed four victims.

On Sunday, the authorities helped residents remove essential belongings from their homes. All evacuees have been provided with shelter and necessary care.

The restrictions will take effect at 3:00 pm on Monday. During daylight hours, controlled access through a checkpoint will again be allowed so that property owners can collect personal items if necessary, the Regional Administration said.

The holiday village will remain under 24-hour police guard to prevent any trespassing or looting of property.
