The Academy of Economics in Svishtov opened the new academic year 2025/2026 on Thursday.
The ceremony was held in the auditorium named after the first rector, Prof. Dimitar Barov, and marked the beginning of the 90th academic year. “During these 90 years, our Alma Mater has raised dozens of generations and will continue to be a symbol of authority and prestige", Academy Rector Dr. Marin Marinov emphasized.
The celebration was attended, amongst others, by Deputy Education and Science Minister Nikolay Vitanov, Deputy Tourism Minister Pavlin Petrov, National Revenue Agency Executive Director Rumen Spetsov and Confederation of Independent Trade Unions President Plamen Dimitrov, as well as representatives of the Academic Council and the municipal leadership.
“The future economists and financiers who will build our state are being educated here. There are not many educational institutions with such a history as the Academy in Svishtov,” Vitanov pointed out.
“As before, we continue to do our best together, with common efforts, so that the Academy can move forward confidently and its successes can multiply,” Plamen Dimitrov said.
In the 2024/2025 academic year, 16,995 foreign students, including from EU Member States, enrolled in Bulgarian universities.
