Velichie Floor Leader Ivelin Mihaylov has received death threats, the party's press office said on Saturday. The official email accounts of Velichie have received a threatening letter from an individual identifying himself as Radoslav Barosov, the press office added.
A review of publicly available information reportedly revealed that a person by this name is a former police officer dismissed after incidents of domestic violence and implicated in corrupt practices within the Traffic Police in Kazanlak, Central Bulgaria. This individual is also known for involvement in extortion schemes, cyberbullying, and systematic threats towards various people. Despite numerous complaints filed against him, no consequences have followed to date, the party stated.
“The situation is further aggravated by the fact that Ivelin Mihaylov’s legally owned self-defence weapon was confiscated. At the same time, and in clear violation of the law, his hunting firearm was also seized. The unlawful confiscation was appealed to the competent court, which annulled the act of seizure. However, the police, represented by the deputy head of the Provadia police station, Mr Gabrovski, refused to enforce the court decision and instead issued a new order revoking the weapon permit,” the statement said.
The party declared: “We categorically condemn any attempts at intimidation, pressure, or threats against the Floor Leader of Velichie in the 51st National Assembly, Ivelin Mihaylov, and against any Bulgarian citizen.”
Velichie is calling for immediate action from the Ministry of Interior and the prosecution service regarding the threats. The party has initiated procedures to notify all relevant authorities in the country.
