The submitted vote of no confidence has been proclaimed as an exceptional effort spanning 80 pages, but it largely repeats votes that have already taken place, said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during a local academy of GERB youth organization in Kyustendil on Saturday.

He raised the question of whether it will be allowed to consider issues that have already been addressed, which would be in contradiction with the Constitution. “What will be the assessment regarding the subject of the vote, since in its entirety it represents a collection of cases that you are familiar with,” Zhelyazkov further commented.

“This is an almanac of all the problems currently occupying our judicial system. Regarding all the cases, in Varna, in Ruse, they are either in judicial or pre-judicial phases. Actually, concerning the vote of no confidence, which we bring as part of the political debate, the question is: Are we not overstepping the functions of the court? Will this debate regarding the vote serve as a form of influence over the impartiality and independence of the judiciary?” the Prime Minister asked.

“And one more thing — in the part related to the rule of law, the motives are copied from the 2024 report of the Commission on the Rule of Law. That is, we will be debating the problems of the current government, which are claimed by the opposition based on facts from 2024. I am sure it will be a very interesting debate, in which I hope society will distinguish between the different branches — executive, legislative, and judicial. This should not be a debate at the expense of the judiciary,” Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov noted.

He added that the cabinet will prepare itself, and he expects the majority to support the government in the upcoming vote, as this is the only guarantee that the problems inherited through the cooperation between central and local authorities will be resolved.

Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria” submitted a motion for a vote of no confidence against the Council of Ministers to the parliamentary registry on Friday. The request is signed by MECh and deputies from the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms. Both opposition parties Vazrazhdane and Velichie, which are not among the submitters, have also declared their support in the chamber. The fifth vote s over the government’s failure in internal order and security, justice, and the captured state.
