Vazrazhdane MP Angel Slavchev told reporters in Parliament on Friday that Vazrazhdane is expecting a response from the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ARF) on whether they will sign the motion of no confidence.

Slavchev added that the biggest problem is the water shortage, and Vazrazhdane had been ready with a no-confidence motion on this issue as early as July 20. According to Slavchev, Vazrazhdane needs five signatures to submit the motion, but Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) and Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) have refused to sign. Only Velichie has signed, Slavchev said. He noted that Vazrazhdane would support any motion of no confidence.

Slavchev announced that a bill has been submitted to extend the deadline for registering wells to 2030. The current deadline is November 28, and many individuals are unclear about the required procedures. Slavchev said he hopes the Committee on Environment and Water will review the bill soon due to the limited timeline. The bill is currently on the National Assembly’s docket.

Slavchev noted that Vazrazhdane is conducting a campaign called Parliament Goes to the People, during which citizens have inquired about the process for registering wells on their properties.

“The entire water shortage is deliberate and, in our view, intended to facilitate theft. The state of emergency in Pleven gives those in power the freedom to make purchases without public tenders, which creates opportunities for corruption,” Slavchev said.
