National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova said in Veliko Tarnovo on Friday that parliamentary groups backing the government have adopted a new style of sitting together to address problems and seek agreement.
Kiselova will attend a gala concert marking the 40th anniversary of the Sound and Light show, part of the celebrations for 140 years since the Unification of Bulgaria, at Tsar Asen I Square in front of Tsarevets hill.
“Those who are upset have only themselves to blame. We will continue working with the groups supporting the government and solving people’s problems. Today’s parliamentary control demonstrated that,” Kiselova said.
Kiselova addressed Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov’s visit to China, noting that Bulgaria was the first country to recognize the People’s Republic of China and that the two countries maintain strong bilateral relations. She said that the invitation to the Bulgarian delegation demonstrated respect for Bulgaria, and that criticism was mainly from those not part of the delegation.
Earlier on Friday, Zafirov said he had no intention of resigning after Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria demanded his resignation on Thursday over his attendance at a Beijing military parade on September 3, also attended by Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un. He called the reaction political and said he travelled in his party capacity, not as part of the government.
