site.btaDeputy PM Donchev Expects Second Payment under National Recovery and Resilience Plan to Go Through by Mid-October

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth Tomislav Donchev said that he expects the funds from the second payment under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) to be available by mid-October. At the National Assembly's Question Time on Friday, he added that request is currently processed and the procedure is expected to be completed on September 15, as he has received assurances from the European Commission (EC) that Bulgaria has fulfilled its commitments for the second payment.

He recalled that the revised request for a second payment of over EUR 650 million was sent in July, as committed, and after agreement was reached with the EC to amend the NRRP.

Regarding the third payment, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the plans are for the request to the EC for the tranche of over EUR 1.6 billion to be sent before the end of September, so that the funds are available by the end of the year.

Donchev recalled that there is agreement in principle with the EC to reduce and regroup the NRRP payments from the initial total of nine, so that in 2026 Bulgaria will receive the remaining funds under the plan in two payments.
