A yacht captain has been rescued after his vessel capsized near the North Beach in Burgas, the beach manager Simeon Tsvetkov told BTA on Saturday.
The single-seat sailing yacht reportedly began taking on water, likely due to a technical failure, and overturned about 1.5 km from the shore. The captain held onto the boat while awaiting help. A surfer alerted lifeguards to the incident.
A rescue team, assisted by a jet-ski instructor trained in lifesaving, carried out the operation. The captain, a Bulgarian national, was brought to safety without injuries.
The rescued man thanked the team for their swift response. The yacht was also towed back to shore with the help of a jet-ski.
