site.btaUPDATED Residents of Bulgarovo's Loznitsite Area Evacuated over Large Fire

A fire burning in the Loznitsite villa zone of Bulgarovo led to the evacuation of residents of the affected areas, Burgas Municipality told BTA on Saturday afternoon. The fire originated from two houses in Loznitsite whose inhabitants lit a fire in their backyards; the strong wind quickly spread the flames toward the town. Several buildings have been destroyed as well as agricultural produce and equipment, and a pine forest very close to Bulgarovo is in flames.
The BG-ALERT emergency notification system was activated, calling for immediate evacuation of the affected areas. The entrance to Bulgarovo from Aytos was closed. Burgas Municipality called for urgent aerial assistance from the military bases in Krumovo and Novo Selo.
Over nine fire engines, volunteers, and police teams are on site working to bring the large fire under control and prevent it from reaching the town. The Mayor and the Regional Governor of Burgas are also on site.
Commissioner Nikolay Nikolaev, head of the Burgas Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection, has ordered municipal firefighting services from Sredets, Nessebar, and Pomorie to join the efforts in putting out the fire, Burgas Municipality said.
