Nearly 4,700 motor vehicles were moved from municipal areas in Sofia to dismantling sites during the first six months of 2025, the Sofia Inspectorate said on its website on Tuesday.

The owners of the vehicles did not take measures to move them voluntarily or hand them over for recycling within the given three-month period, after which forced action was taken, the Sofia Inspectorate noted, pointing out that stickers are placed on unusable vehicles in all areas of the capital, warning their owners to take care of them in a timely manner and to vacate the occupied areas from abandoned cars.

A large share of the removed vehicles did not have a registration in Sofia, which, however, is not a prerequisite for delaying the procedure. The largest number of impounded and moved unusable cars were in the Krasno Selo, Ilinden, Mladost and Izgrev districts.
