With a festive opera gala held on the stage of the Ancient Forum "Augusta Traiana" on Tuesday evening, Stara Zagora celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of Bulgaria’s first opera house outside the capital Sofia.
At the event, President Rumen Radev presented the Presidential Badge of Honour to the Stara Zagora State Opera for its significant contribution to both Bulgarian and international opera stages. In his speech, the head of State emphasized that the opera house is not only a cultural symbol of Stara Zagora but of Bulgaria as a whole, with its artists continuing to inspire audiences with their professionalism.
The celebrations began with the opening of the photo-documentary exhibition "100 Years in 100 Frames" in the "October 5th" Park, with the highlight being the gala concert featuring a retrospective of the opera house's most important moments.
Greetings were also extended by local and state officials, including Mayor Zhivko Todorov and Deputy Minister of Culture Georgi Sultanov.
