The Council of Ministers on Tuesday adopted a decision approving, per a Defence Minister's report, a draft Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) BU-P-LBL on procurement of a GPS Module ensuring the maintenance of military-grade M-Code under the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Programme and mandated an official to conduct negotiations and sign the international contract subject to subsequent ratification by the National Assembly.
The LOA has been drafted in connection with an updated Project for Investment Expenditure on the Procurement of a Multi-Role Patrol Craft for the Bulgarian Navy, which is prioritized by the Bulgarian Defence Ministry.
By another decision, the Government approved a draft Amendment 2 to LOA BU-P-AAD "Sidewinder AIM 9X Block II Missiles, associated material and services" / BU- P-AAD LOAA2. Proposing amendments to effective FMS Programme contracts is a standard practice of the US Government when the content of such contracts needs to be modified.
The proposed draft does not alter the cost of LOA BU-P-AAD "Sidewinder AIM 9X Block II Missiles, associated material and services" but provides for adjusting time limits, changing conditions, adding streamlining texts and otherwise modifying the content of the contract.
