Representatives of Continue the Change (CC) told a briefing on Thursday that negotiations on a motion no confidence in Rosen Zhelyazkov's government would begin after July 9, when Bulgaria's adoption of the euro becomes irreversible.

For CC, joining the eurozone is a top priority, and until the key date, July 8, when the European Parliament will vote on Bulgaria's entry, the party will not cause "any disruptions". After that date, when eurozone membership becomes an irreversible process, Continue the Change will concentrate on its other major goal: tackling corruption.

According to CC co-leader Kiril Petkov, the discussion with their partners in Parliament, Democratic Bulgaria (DB), is not about whether there are grounds for a vote of no confidence, but rather about its timing. Examples of the government's failures include healthcare, education and issues within the Interior Ministry. Regarding corruption and the rule of law, Bulgaria has a long way to go, the former prime minister said.

On Wednesday, Petkov said the positive reports of the European Commission and the European Central Bank would not change the party's intention to submit a motion of no confidence against the Government after the exact date of Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone is revealed.

Also on Wednesday, Democratic Bulgaria described the positive reports on Sofia's bid to enter the eurozone on January 1, 2026 as a significant success, adding that there will not be conditions for a vote of no confidence before September. Ivaylo Mirchev MP of DB said the arguments to wait for a vote of no confidence until September are the drafting of the 2026 budget and the eurozone accession process. He also said decisions in the CC-DB parliamentary group are made after very serious discussion, usually followed by a vote.
