Children deserve not only a peaceful and carefree childhood, but also the opportunity for full development. It can only be achieved by uniting in the cause of our children, State Agency for Child Protection (SACP) Chair Dr. Teodora Ivanova said in her greeting on the occasion of Children's Day on June 1, the SACP said in a press release on Sunday.

Ivanova stressed that kids are influenced by the examples and actions of the whole community.

"We are the ones who must show them that aggression has no place in our lives, that the use of dangerous substances leads to nothing good, that reckless behavior as participants in traffic often has extremely serious consequences for them and those around them, Ivanova added. Children are our today and our tomorrow," she noted.

"Dear children, your smiles, your happiness, your protection, your safety, and above all, understanding you is the responsibility of all adults! Demand it from us every day, remind us if we forget it even for a moment in our busy daily lives, because every day should be your day! Reaching out to those weaker than you will make you even stronger and much more successful! Together, discover the world and accumulate successes and victories," said Teodora Ivanova, chair of the State Agency for Child Protection.

International Children's Day is being celebrated on Sunday with a series of initiatives across the country.
