site.btaDefence Minister Zapryanov to Participate in EU Defence Ministerial and European Defence Agency Steering Board Meeting

Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov will participate in a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (Defence) and the Steering Board of the European Defence Agency in the defence ministers format, which will be held Tuesday in Brussels, his Ministry announced Tuesday.

Within the framework of the EU defence ministerial, the participants will discuss the strengthening of the European Union's military support for Ukraine in response to the country's urgent needs and the provision of possible guarantees for its security. The topic of the talks will also be the follow-up actions in the implementation of the guidelines and proposals in the White Paper for European Defence - Readiness 2030, and the ReArm Europe Plan.

The Foreign Affairs Council will be chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov (via videoconference) have also been invited to participate in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (Defence).

In the margins of the Council, EU Defence Ministers will participate in the European Defence Agency’s Steering Board meeting, the key medium- and long-term work focus of the Agency will be discussed, the Defence Ministry said.
