site.btaMyara Poll: 63.3% Support Referendum on Euro Adoption, 35.3% Oppose It

A total of 63.3% of respondents in a telephone poll conducted by the Myara polling agency support holding a referendum on the adoption of the euro in Bulgaria, while 35.3% are against it. The survey was conducted as part of Myara’s research programme through face-to-face interviews between May 10 and 13. It included 803 adult Bulgarian citizens, with a 1% sample representing approximately 54,000 people. The maximum standard deviation is ±3.5% at a 50% proportion.
According to Myara, the idea of a referendum on the euro enjoys public backing – such proposals in Bulgaria have traditionally enjoyed a "tailwind". As a result, declared willingness to participate in such a vote is high, with only about one in ten respondents saying they would not vote or remain undecided. However, analysts note that this level of engagement is unlikely to be fully replicated in practice.
In response to the question "If a national referendum were held in Bulgaria with the question: 'Do you agree that Bulgaria should adopt the single European currency, the euro, in 2026?' what would you personally do?", 34.4% said they would vote in favour, while 54.9% said they would vote against. The remainder said they would not vote or were hesitant.
The findings are consistent with a series of previous studies on the topic over the years, Myara said.
