Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil officiated a prayer service in the Church of the Three Holy Hierarchs in Shumen, in co-celebration with many priests. The service was attended by many citizens and official guests, including Vice President Iliana Iotova, who earlier on Saturday opened the exhibition "Alphabet and History" in the Stiliyan Chilingirov Regional Library in Shumen.

Patriarch Daniil is with a delegation from the Holy Synod in Shumen for the celebrations of the 1160th anniversary of the Christianization of the Bulgarian people and the 1170th anniversary of the Bulgarian alphabet. The celebrations began on May 1 in Varna and continued on Friday in Pliska.
