site.bta CC-DB’s Bozhankov Submits Draft Resolutions to Lift Immunity of Four Vazrazhdane MPs

MP Yavor Bozhankov from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) has submitted four draft decisions on the lifting of the immunity of MPs from the Vazrazhdane party to the registry of Parliament, according to the website of the National Assembly.

The draft decisions on the requests of acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov for permission to prosecute are for MPs Slavcho Krumov, Ivaylo Tchorbov, Yordan Todorov, and Nikola Dimitrov.

Bozhankov said on Friday that he would submit a draft decision to remove their parliamentary immunity for hooliganism in front of the House of Europe during a protest organized by Vazrazhdane to preserve the Bulgarian lev. Bozhankov then briefed the MPs and the Parliament Chair on the arguments that have been put forward with the request submitted by the acting Prosecutor General. It is alleged that one of the members of Vazrazhdane threw a Molotov cocktail and could have disfigured a law enforcement officer, and that by doing so he endangered the health of many citizens, another threw paint, another hit a policeman, and another took out his MP card and shouted obscenities against law enforcement officers, Bozhankov said on Friday.

The requests to acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov for the removal of immunity were made in late February.
