site.btaTurkish Truck Driver Detained for Attempting to Bribe Police Officers

A truck driver from Turkiye was detained for attempting to bribe police officers in Svilengrad on the Maritsa motorway, the Haskovo Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry said on Friday.

Police officers stopped the truck driven by a 63-year-old Turkish citizen for inspection on Thursday. The driver offered the police officers EUR 35 to let him move on to the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint on the border with Turkiye without being diverted to the line of waiting trucks.

The driver was detained for up to 24 hours and pre-trial proceedings are underway.
