The Bulgarian Customs Agency and the US Customs and Border Protection are launching a project to exchange experiences in the field of customs and border control, funded by the US government. Under the project, the US counterparts will provide analytical support as well as share best practices of the two administrations in the field of customs activities and customs control at land and sea borders, the Bulgarian Customs Agency reported here on Tuesday.
In this regard, from the beginning of March, Customs and Border Protection Service officials will arrive in Bulgaria to familiarise themselves with the organisation and work together with customs officials at the Kapitan Andreevo, Burgas and Varna ports.
A series of trainings for Bulgarian customs officers are also planned within the project, including a working visit to a border checkpoint in the USA.
The cooperation with the Customs and Border Protection Service is part of the active partnership between the Customs Agency and the US authorities in the field of international trade, customs control and the fight against drug trafficking, which includes joint trainings, exchange of experience and technical support.
