site.btaDeputy PM Gabriel Thanks Canada for Supporting Bulgaria's OECD Accession

Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel wrote on Facebook she was glad that after meeting with Canada's Foreign Minister Melanie Joly in Brussels, on Friday she had the pleasure of welcoming to Bulgaria Rob Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary to Canada's chief diplomat.

She thanked Oliphant for the substantive discussion and for Canada's support for Bulgaria's accession to the OECD.

Gabriel said the two discussed the future steps in bilateral relations with a focus on the countries as NATO Allies, the strategic importance of the Black Sea Region, the added value of Bulgarian-Canadian partnership and ways to make it strategic.

Other topics on the agenda were the fight against disinformation and Bulgaria's joining the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, cooperation in strategic sectors including energy, new technologies and innovation, as well as the Strategy for the Arctic and the region's geopolitical importance.
