site.btaBulgarian Justice Ministry Endorses Ukrainian Peace Formula

The Bulgarian Justice Ministry has endorsed Ukraine’s peace formula proposed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as part of the efforts to put an end to the war and establish peace, the Ministry’s press centre said on Tuesday.

"Bulgaria supports international initiatives aimed at resolving the military conflict and bringing justice. We also support the establishment of an international tribunal for the prosecution of crimes against humanity and war crimes in Ukraine, as well as the International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression," Justice Minister Atanas Slavov was quoted as saying at a forum promoting the peace formula.  

Slavov said that the Bulgarian prosecution service could initiate a criminal investigation and join efforts with its European counterparts to gather evidence that could be used in future international cases.

The Minister noted that he will pay a visit to Ukraine in the coming months under plans to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of justice in order to improve the exchange of experience on issues such as judicial reform and institutional reforms to effectively counter corruption and ensure the independence of the judiciary.
