site.btaUPDATED Former Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, Civil Organizations Found New Political Formation Called Civil Block
Former Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev announced Thursday the founding of a new political formation Civil Block. During a press conference in the BTA National Press Club in Sofia he pointed out that it is created but dozens of civil organizations.
“The decisive success of the independent candidates in the previous election is a clear signal that this is quite possible and that the time has come for the creation of a new type of political formation - civic and democratic. We are entering politics to change the vicious model,” Geshev stated.
He added that the formation “is not owned by anyone and will be a reserved territory for all active citizens who are ready to participate in the political life of the country”.
“The means by which we will achieve our goals are to remove the monopoly of the parties on the electoral process and power, by changing Article 12 of the Constitution, changing the Electoral Code in order to remove the unfair advantages granted to the parties, removing the obstacles to the implementation of referendums, giving priority to the majority element in parliamentary elections, to ensure real financial decentralization of Bulgarian municipalities, so that the large municipality cannot achieve political and personal goals through funding,” Geshev said.
He argued that the media and political analysts have not noticed the biggest winners, "which are undoubtedly the civic candidates put forward by initiative committees, local coalitions or parliamentary parties that are not in Parliament. In the past elections the citizens gave another vote of no-confidence to the whole party system, Geshev stressed.
