"It is with great satisfaction and pride that we hand over Bulgaria's governance to a regular government elected by the National Assembly," Galab Donev, who has served as prime minister of two successive caretaker cabinets for a total of 10 months, said at a change-of-government ceremony in Sofia on Tuesday.

In his last hours as prime minister, Donev ordered the dismissal of all deputy ministers. His successor, Nikolay Denkov, said this will cause trouble to the regular cabinet.

In a formal statement, Donev welcomed the continuity which the new cabined has vowed to pursue, and stressed that the pledge raises hope that the problems of the Bulgarian people and businesses will be addressed. He called on the new government to work for the fulfilment of all its priorities.

He singled out a few policy areas in which he said his caretaker government achieved good results. These included energy, tourism, inter-agency interaction, and transparent work of the executive.
