In the first week of the referendum, titled "Bulgaria for Peace and Sovereignty", 20,000 signatures were collected, in the second - 30,000, and the signatures processed so far from the third week were nearly 35,000, said at a BTA press conference Sarnela Vodenicharova, part of the Initiative Committee for the Referendum for Peace and Sovereignty.

Vodenicharova added that despite the "media blackout" they felt, they continued with the activity of collecting signatures by hand.

In addition to a referendum on peace and sovereignty, the Initiative Committee organized marches in 40 cities around the world, said Vodenicharova, and pointed out that the latest cities to join were Sopot, Karlovo and London. The next March for Peace will be on May 21 in Sofia.

Prof. Nako Stefanov, head of the organizational committee, added that several structures are also being established. "Any citizen who recognizes themselves in the idea is welcome, regardless of their political bias. This is an organization that is non-partisan," he stressed.
