Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov issued a statement after it transpired that President Rumen Radev will hand the third government-forming mandate to the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ARF).

“Radev decided to give the third mandate to Ahmed Dogan. I am not surprised by the decision, it is completely logical. He cannot give it a second time to Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, with whom he is working towards a future coalition after the elections, because he already gave them a mandate. He cannot give it to BSP or There Is Such a People, to whom he has given it until now, because they are part of the current government. He cannot give it to MRF, because they are also part of the government and he would compromise himself. He cannot give it to Vazrazhdane, because we are his only ideological opponent. MECh and Velichie do not even deserve to be mentioned.”

“We have repeatedly said that Radev would not give the third mandate to Vazrazhdane. He has never done so before, for the reason described above. With this move, however, the future former president has made a serious political mistake. He took off the mask even before the performance had begun. In this sense, this is good news for us Bulgarians. The planned substitution will start to stall even before it has begun.

"One more thing. ARF should return the mandate as early as tomorrow, immediately after receiving it. Bulgaria has no time to waste. The government submitted its resignation a month and a half ago. Radev gave them enough time to finish their shady deals, so it is high time they relinquish power. He should appoint a caretaker government and we should go to elections as quickly as possible!” Kostadinov stressed.
