The scheduled meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs was cancelled, according to information published on the website of the National Assembly. The meeting had been set for Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
MPs were expected to consider at first reading proposed amendments to the Election Code submitted by Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, introducing 100% machine voting. The agenda also included a second reading of a consolidated bill amending the Election Code.
Representatives of the Central Election Commission, including its Chair Kamelia Neykova, as well as journalists, had arrived for the meeting. It remains unclear when a new session will be scheduled.
Earlier in the day, the plenary sitting was extended and ended shortly before 4:30 p.m. instead of 2:00 p.m., after MPs adopted at first reading amendments to the Direct Citizen Participation in State and Local Government Act.
