In a Facebook post on Wednesday, outgoing Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev said that major legislative reforms, delayed for years, had been implemented and two payments had been received from the European Commission within a single year.
“In less than a year, we changed laws, introduced new rules, and—most importantly—rescued more than 400 people from appalling misery, labelled not as a ‘senior care facility’ but as a ‘room for rent,’” Georgiev noted.
“Sham arbitration courts that fabricated rulings to seize money, property, and businesses are now a thing of the past. Property fraudsters now have names, as do those who assist them. We have demonstrated this through dozens of inspections,” Georgiev said.
Georgiev acknowledged that progress is slower than desired but stressed that nothing can be achieved without personal effort, confrontation, and the willingness to make enemies.
“Intelligence, talent, and virtue are always more valuable and—while not always—often prevail over stupidity, mediocrity, and vice,” he wrote, wishing everyone a successful 2026.
“Goodness does not come into being on its own, so we must have the strength and courage to choose and defend it. Reason is often powerless in the face of collective madness, but it must be armed with will, patience, and determination,” Georgiev concluded.
