In a declaration from the parliamentary rostrum on Wednesday, Vazrazhdane called for a ban on state and municipal schools using private electronic information systems containing personal data of Bulgarian citizens. The declaration was read by MP Angel Yanchev.

On Tuesday, the American internet infrastructure company Cloudflare was affected by a power outage, which caused the collapse of several websites.

“Bulgaria was not spared,” Yanchev noted. “Access to a major British electronic school diary, Shkolo, which is supposed to serve students, teachers, and parents, half a million Bulgarian students and one million Bulgarian parents, was also blocked. “This is a problem for us, a big problem,” he said. According to him, the issue of students’ data and grades is a matter of national security. The outage halted operations in 1,700 Bulgarian schools, affected thousands of Bulgarian teachers, and blocked access to school documentation for thousands of students and parents, the MP added.

According to him, there is no logical answer to the question of why a non-Bulgarian company is performing Bulgarian government functions, especially given that an electronic register of the Ministry of Education and Science has already been built and is functioning successfully.

“We do not trust the Bulgarian government and call for its immediate resignation, but even more, we do not trust the government of the British king and his Pakistani Minister of Interior,” Angel Yanchev added.
