Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev has sent a letter of condolence to his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, over the crash of a C-130 cargo plane of the Turkish Air Force near the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan, which claimed the lives of 20 military personnel, the President’s Press Secretariat said.

On behalf of the Bulgarian people and in his own name, President Radev extended his condolences to the families of the victims and expressed his sympathy with "all those serving in the demanding and responsible professional field of defence."

The incident occurred on November 11 after the aircraft left Azerbaijan for Turkiye. Tuesday's crash was Turkiye's deadliest military incident since February 2020, when Russian-backed Syrian forces killed 33 Turkish troops in Idlib, northwest Syria, where Turkiye was supporting rebels looking to oust the Syrian government, Reuters reported.
