The Interior Ministers of Austria and Bulgaria, Gerhard Karner and Daniel Mitov, will visit on Friday the Bulgarian-Turkish border in the area of responsibility of Border Police in Elhovo, the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior said.
The two ministers will attend the opening of a newly built sensor line at border pyramid 231, in the area of the village of Golyam Dervent. They will also meet with the Austrian officials included in the Solidarity contingent.
At the end of January, Minister Karner sent 15 Austrian police officers to the Bulgarian-Turkish border. A total of 100 border guards from Bulgaria, Austria, Romania, and Hungary are in charge of protecting the nearly 260-kilometre long EU external border with Turkiye. The aim is to curb illegal migration.
