The TikTok platform abounds with videos calling for participation in a protest in Bucharest's Constitution Square on May 26, when the inauguration ceremony of the new president, Nicusor Dan, is scheduled, the Hotnews website reports.

Calls for protests to express dissatisfaction with the outcome of the presidential election have been circulating for several days, and the leader of the far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), George Simion, who lost the election to Nicusor Dan, has also addressed his followers on TikTok and Facebook and called on them for peaceful protests.

George Simion appealed to the Constitutional Court against the election result, but his appeal was rejected and the result upheld.

Some of Simion's and Calin Georgescu’s supporters are calling for a “revolution” on May 26, the day newly elected President Nicusor Dan will be sworn in before Parliament, Hotnews notes.

At the same time, the Ziare news website points out that Simion is urging protests but will not participate. The AUR leader encourages his supporters to take to the streets and protest peacefully against the outcome of the elections, but he will not take part as he believes he risks arrest.
