A three-volume edition of unpublished works by Petar Beron was presented for the first time in the town of Dudestii Vechi in western Romania on Friday, the organizers told BTA. The presentation was part of an event celebrating the second centenary of the publication of the Fish Primer and the 280th anniversary of the oldest Bulgarian school.
The event organized by the Embassy of Bulgaria in Romania and the Bulgarian Union of Banat-Romania saw participation from speakers Nikolay Tonchev, owner of the Niton publishing house, and Petar Gramatikoff, Vice President of Eastern European Forum for Dialogue - BRIDGES.
A series of documentaries has been planned about Petar Beron, one of Bulgaria’s few encyclopaedists and a key figure in the country’s educational reform and Enlightenment movement. Over the years, he also lived and worked in the Romanian cities of Bucharest and Craiova.
