Within the Skopje Economic Finance Forum 2023, which is taking place here on Friday, North Macedonia's Prime Minister Dimitar Kovahcevski conferred with EU Budget and Administration Commissioner Johannes Hahn, the Government in Skopje said in a press release.
The two focused on the country's European integration processes and the importance of the forthcoming process of adopting constitutional amendments.
An emphasis was laid on the need for North Macedonia to realize the historic moment it is facing and the necessity to take a step in the process of its European integration, as well as on the fact that the EU supports North Macedonia as a result of the strong commitment that the country's Government shows to carrying out the reforms and that the EU accession negotiations will affect favourably the overall business climate.
It was noted at the meeting that the country's European integration implies, among other things, fundamental changes and harmonizing the institutional, economic and legal frameworks with EU laws, regulations, standards and policies. This will make possible a GDP growth, reduction of unemployment, access to the European market of over half a billion people and an economy generating a GDP of some EUR 13 trillion, an increase of foreign direct investments, higher minimum and average wages, and strengthening North Macedonia's political stability, security and overall international position.
The 3rd Skopje Economic Finance Forum, organized by the Ministry of Finance, is mottoed "Europe Yes Europe Now". Taking part are officials from the European Investment Bank, the Council of Europe Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank and the IMF, as well as diplomats, business executives and academics.
