North Macedonia's DUI Ready to Back Government without Being In It, If Opposition Votes Through Changes to Constitution

SDSM’s coalition partner and the largest Albanian party, Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), is ready to support a government without being part of is until new elections are held “if the opposition backs the changes to the Constitution and they take effect before a new government takes office,” wrote on Facebook North Macedonia's Foreign Minister and DUI spokesperson Bujar Osmani. „The European future of the citizens comes first an foremost”, he writes.

His reaction came after earlier on Wednesday at a meeting between North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski it transpired that the opposition party is ready to be part of a government with SDSM if it does not include DUI and if the constitutional changes take effect on the day when the 27 EU member countries begin the ratification of the protocol on North Macedonia’s EU accession.
