site.btaBAS President Holds Talks with Kosovo Ambassador on Science Cooperation
Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) President Evelina Slavcheva met with Ambassador of Kosovo in Sofia Haxhi Bajraktari, BAS said on Tuesday. The meeting was held at the Academy’s central building and was attended by BAS Vice Presidents Evdokia Pashova and Emmanuel Moutafov, and Deputy Head of Mission Bujar Deskaj.
The participants discussed opportunities to strengthen scientific cooperation between the two countries under the bilateral agreement between BAS and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo.
The meeting focused on the possibility of BAS guest lecturers delivering lectures in Bulgarian language programmes at the University of Prishtina, as well as on the participation of Kosovo researchers in doctoral programmes in Bulgaria. The participants agreed that geographical proximity and the excellent relations between the two countries provide a solid basis for deepening cooperation in science and education.
Slavcheva congratulated the Ambassador on the election of Academician Justina Shiroka-Pula as the new President of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts in December 2025 and expressed a desire for a meeting between the heads of the two academies.
