Bulgarian associations in the Republic of North Macedonia reacted on Sunday to an incident in which an as yet unidentified individual broke the glass door of the Bulgarian Embassy in Skopje. The Embassy published a photo of the door and a video which shows a man punching the glass and quickly walking away.
The Bitola-based Association for Macedonian-Bulgarian Friendship strongly condemned "any act of violence against the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in the Republic of North Macedonia" and called for prompt and effective action by the competent authorities in North Macedonia to identify the perpetrator and ensure they face the full force of the law.
The Balkan Bridge Association in Bitola said on Facebook: "It is with deep concern that we learned of today's attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Skopje. We denounce any form of violence or threats directed at diplomatic missions, which are symbols of dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect between states. We express full solidarity and support for the Embassy of Bulgaria, its diplomats and staff. We believe that such incidents must not undermine the principles of good-neighbourliness, peace and European values to which we should all aspire. We remain fully committed to building bridges of friendship, understanding and cultural cooperation between countries."
