MRF - New Beginning has tabled legal amendments that would allow the President, Prime Minister and Parliament leader to give up their personal detail. In a statement for the press, the party says that the revisions were prompted by remarks by President Rumen Radev earlier on Thursday that he could have given up his security detail but the law does not allow him to.
“If the MPs pass such a law, I will give up my personal security detail,” said the head of State.
MRF - New Beginning argue that President Radev "should stop using all resources of the President's administration to build his own political project, do the manly think and resign, and focus on his political project together with his family and millionaire advisers".
Earlier on Thursday the President announced that he would be using his own car when travelling with his staff, as an act of solidarity with staff members, who were barred by recent legal revisions from using transport services by the National Service for Protection (NSP).
The leader of MRF - New Beginning, Delyan Peevski, also uses NSP security detail.
