site.btaVMRO-DPMNE's Candidate for Skopje Mayor Holds Double Lead over Rival - Poll

The latest opinion poll by the Institute for Political Research in Skopje shows that Orce Georgievski, the VMRO-DPMNE candidate for mayor of Skopje, holds a strong lead over Amar Mecinovic, the Left Party’s candidate, ahead of Sunday’s run-off election.

According to the poll, 39.7% of respondents plan to vote in the runoff, 15.7% said they will not, and 31.4% remain undecided.

The runoff will take place in 33 municipalities, with much of the nation’s attention focused on Skopje, where voters will choose between Georgievski and Mecinovic. Support for Georgievski stands at 31.2%, compared to 16.6% for Mecinovic. The poll shows that 20.3% of respondents would not vote for either candidate, and 31.9% were undecided or declined to answer.

If parliamentary elections were to be held instead, VMRO-DPMNE would receive 23% of the vote, its coalition partner VLEN 8.2%, DUI 7.1%, and both SDSM and the Left Party 6.4% each. The poll also indicates that 11.6% of respondents would not support any party, while 13.9% did not disclose their preference.
