The Norwegian news agency NTB has won the 2025 Maxim Minchev Award of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA). The award was presented by EANA Secretary-General Alexandru Ion Giboi to Tina Mari Flem, Editor-in-Chief and CEO of NTB, during the alliance’s general assembly in Athens, Greece.
The Norwegian agency received the honor for its project “Media Bank,” which facilitates the storage, retrieval, and sharing of images, videos, and graphics.
EANA’s general assembly in 2005 introduced an annual award recognizing excellence in news agency quality. In 2021, the prize was renamed the Maxim Minchev Award for News Agency Quality in honor of the late Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).
This year, EANA celebrated 69 years since its founding in 1956, emphasizing its mission to unite independent news organizations across Europe and ensure the free flow of reliable information.
The BTA Director General, Kiril Valchev, participated in EANA’s autumn conference, presenting alongside AFP (France), CTK (Czechia), ANP (Netherlands), PA (United Kingdom), and the Reuters Institute.
BTA has been a member of EANA since September 17, 1970.
