The Presidency's Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, has been dismissed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Altun was replaced by the former deputy foreign minister, Prof. Burhanettin Duran, TRT-Haber said.

Duran was general coordinator of the SETA Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research, which is close to the government, the T24 website reported. In October 2018, he was appointed to the Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Board.

Fahrettin Altun, who headed the Communications Directorate in 2018, has been appointed to lead the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkiye as part of the latest changes. It was established in 2016 to prevent discrimination and to effectively combat torture and ill-treatment.

Turkiye's Directorate of Communications was established by a presidential decree on July 24, 2018. It covers the areas of public diplomacy and strategic communication.
