Meeting on Wednesday, the government of Serbia allocated RSD 350 million (EUR 3 million) to support those most affected by recent wildfires, the Tanjug news agency reported.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali said, as quoted by Tanjug: “In recent days, our country has been struck by devastating fires, particularly in the south of Serbia, engulfing entire villages, destroying homes, property, and everything people had built over decades. The Government of the Republic of Serbia responded immediately — at today’s meeting, we decided to urgently allocate 350 million dinars, or three million euro, from the budget reserve to repair the damage, assist the most vulnerable, and help restore the affected areas.”

A total of 620 forest fires were registered in Serbia on Monday, with six people injured while battling the flames, according to Serbian national broadcaster RTS. In recent days, the situation was most critical in Southern Serbia, where a state of emergency was declared. As of Wednesday afternoon, most of the fires have been extinguished and brought under control, local media report.
