Bulgaria will join the process of Ukraine's reconstruction, GERB leader Boyko Borissov said at a meeting with Olesya Ilashchuk, Ukraine's ambassador to Bulgaria. This was announced by Borissov on Facebook on Friday.
“We have an opportunity to contribute to sectors such as energy, trade and infrastructure,” the post said.
“We also discussed the development of military actions on the territory of Ukraine. Ukraine has Bulgaria's strong support for its European perspective,” Boyko Borissov added.
On Wednesday, the government proposed to the National Assembly to ratify two agreements to ensure Bulgaria's participation in the EU’s fund for Ukraine.
Participation in the EU fund for Ukraine will allow Bulgaria to indirectly support Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction by jointly guaranteeing, together with other EU member states, EIB operations, contributing to the deployment of public and private sector projects for the reconstruction of critical municipal infrastructure and improving access to finance for entrepreneurs in the country. Bulgaria's involvement will be a further confirmation of our strong commitment to supporting Ukraine's recovery and economic development, the Council of Ministers said.
